Computing award for supporting development winner, Des Lekerman

The Computing Rising Star Awards

In 2019 Computing launched its inaugural Rising Star Awards, recognising those at the beginning of their career in the technology sector alongside those in management positions who are committed to outstanding support of new talent.

We’re pleased to announce that TiG’s CEO, Des Lekerman, was chosen as the winner of the Award for Supporting Development, highlighting the work that he and TiG as a whole do to foster and develop new talent. With tough competition from the likes of Barclays Bank and the University of Cambridge, it was TiG’s training programmes and mentoring schemes that impressed the judges most.

On receiving the award, Des said, ‘I’m delighted to collect this award on behalf of TiG. There are many talented people within our organisation and I’m proud that we’re able to fulfil our duty as directors to support their progress throughout their careers. We hire ambitious and intelligent people, and by encouraging them to overcome new challenges they are able to reach their full potential.’

The judging panel for the awards was comprised of specialist technology experts along with board members of enterprise level organisations. They were impressed by the training programmes TiG have for new starters across all departments of the business. As well as this, they recognised action being taken to support new starters in the sector due to TiG’s apprenticeship and ‘Year in Industry’ programmes.

Training for the future

TiG’s People Director, Chris Bradford said, ‘This award highlights the work we have been doing to formalise our training structure at TiG, proving our commitment to supporting staff throughout the organisation. We expect the best from our team, so in turn we must provide the best possible environment in which they can flourish.’

We continue to focus on supporting the development of our team as a key value of the business. TiG is going through a period of growth, so if you are looking to join an organisation where you can grow your skills and make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
